WHO ARE OUR FRIENDS? WHO ARE OUR ENEMIES

Ok, I’ve waited long enough to say this.  I’ve been watching the news for the last week and every single day I see people in the Middle East and Africa burning our embassy’s, killing Americans and trashing our freedoms, all because of a movie that I am certain 99% of them haven’t seen.  For more than 10 years now we’ve had troops in Afghanistan making every effort to help them democratize their country in the hope of better life, not to mention the billions of dollars we’ve given them and the loss of more than 2000 American lives lost.  In Libya, they pleaded with us to help them overthrow Gaddafi until we sent planes and troops and not to show their gratitude, those mopes torch our embassy and kill four Americans.  In Egypt, we helped them overthrow Mubarak, and less than a year later they too riot in the streets and throw fire bombs at our embassy.  I could go on with these examples, but I’m pretty sure you get the idea by now, so let’s move on.

Ok, so how many of you remember the Shah of Iran who ruled that country until 1979?  Remember, like Mubarak, the Shah was our friend, yet when revolution broke out, we not only didn’t help our friend, we helped overthrow him.  Now, let’s see, how’s that working out for us?  It seems that every time one of the Middle Eastern countries has an uprising, they call on the good ole United States of America to help them fight their battle, and once those leading the revolution take our money and not only turn their backs on us, they give us their ass to kiss.  The very people we help do nothing to protect our diplomats or other Americans in their countries, they are hostile to our people and our government, yet we continue to give them billions in aid while we cut aid for the poor in our own country.

Now these people say they have to riot and try to kill us because someone in our country insulted their god, so they have to exact revenge by burning things and killing innocent people.  Can you imagine how many dead Muslims there would be if Christians rioted and killed people every time they insulted Jesus Christ? Listen, I understand people taking their religion seriously, I’m serious about mine, but, me nor a single person I know (no matter how crazy they might seem) would kill someone because they insulted our god.  Now before anyone reminds me that there are Christians who have murdered people, you’re right, but we don’t collectively lose our minds and riot in the streets destroying our own country, not to mention murdering folks who have done us no harm.  We absolutely have more than our share of nut case preachers in this country, but Muslim countries carry nutty preachers to a whole different level.  How can a supposed man of god incite people to purposely commit violent acts against other, by strapping bombs to their bodies, filling vehicles with explosives, or just going out and shooting the innocent?  How can seemingly entire countries of people who practice a religion that’s supposed to promote peace not speak out and reel in the lunatic fringe among them?  More importantly, how can so many people in these countries try to make excuses for the monsters living among them?

Fact is that both you and I know that not all Muslims are violent terrorist.  Having said that, unless and until those Muslims who claim that they want to live in peace as part of the world community step out of the shadows and take their countries back from those who commit terror, they will continue to carry the stigma associated with their countrymen.

I started this article by outlining what we’re doing wrong when dealing with Muslim countries, and thus far I’ve not given you any answers, so let me try and do that in closing.  In my view the United States Government needs to do the following:

  • Cut off all aid (financial and other) to every country around the world that is hostile to America. Yes, I know that some people in those countries will suffer without our aid, but part of the problem is that many of them are suffering already.  When it hurts enough, they might just overthrow the tyrants.
  • Bring our soldiers home Middle Eastern soil while continuing to target terrorist with drone strikes. We claim Afghanistan as an ally, yet our solders continue to be murdered by the very soldiers their trying to train to defend their country.  Anytime you have a partner that you can’t trust, you have to cut that partner loose.
  • Stop all immigration to the US from every country in the Middle East except Israel.  This includes students and those on work visas.  Never forget that several of those on the planes flying into the Twin Towers on 911 were here on Student visas.  Israel is the only Middle Eastern country whose citizens we can trust not to commit terrorist acts if allowed in the country.
  • If we stopped our oil companies from exporting most of the oil produced in America, and allowed more drilling in our country coupled with expanded use of alternative energy, I believe that we would be energy independent almost immediately.  Don’t get me wrong, I understand the global economy, but we can’t continue to do business with people who hate us and only do business with us because their making billions while they make plans to destroy our very existence.

I know that some who read this will think that what’s been said is extreme, but if you really think about it, can you really think of any better solutions?  If you do, I would love to hear them, but I’m betting that most will agree that the solutions above are a pretty good start!

I’M JUST SAYIN
